  A Sister and a Brother alone

  i've been looking in the watchtower library all morning and can't find anything.. i know that jws have this rule (is it unwritten??

  ) where a brother and a sister should not be left alone in a car, a house, or any private place.

  but my jw father says it's not so, and he spent a part of yesterday installing a computer program at a jw couple's house while the man was at work and the wife was at home.

  Yeah I hated this one. What was I going to do? Get it on with old people? Puke.

  Even recently-ish, when I was faded but still pretending to be in - my dad was in hospital in a small outback Aussie town, on his own, with only me to stay with him. We get in contact with a jw couple there who my parents have known for years, it is suggested that I stay with them as it would have been extremely unsafe for a female on her own to try to stay in any hotel.

  I don't freak out quite so much because I think I have a place to stay. Then the guy rocks up, and I get told later (not by him, by my siblings that were only there for a couple of hours) that I can't stay with them because his wife isn't there for a couple of nights! ARGH.

  Lucky for me the lovely nurses let me stay in a room in the ICU that is reserved for families of people brought in at night.

  It was loud and I got people opening the door at all hours of the night, but I got a bed and I got fed. I love non-jws!!!!!!!

  Hi again, I've been absent for a bit

  i was previously crazyblonde (couldn't get into my account after being absent for a while 0_o).. long story short, things have been interesting.. i'm successfully in the faded stage now.

  got a bit of hounding - had a few elders calling and texting my husband about me (he's still in, kinda).

  had an 'unexpected drop in' at our place too, which i didn't even know about until after as my hubby kept them outside.

  Thank you :) I'm glad to be back. Lets just hope my work doesn't block the site again! I have also started venturing online at home but trying to cover my tracks makes it hard sometimes.

  Recent assembly

  1) stop using internet,facebook,myspace,email,texting and spend more time studying and in service.. my mate quit their facebook page when we came home lol.

  2) maybe i am just more tuned into it now, but they mentioned "apostate" a lot more this time around, espicially when talking about the internet.. it keeps me thinking, if there is nothing to hide, then why is there such a big push not to look?

  it's like an ugly girlfriend not wanting her boyfriend to look at the girls on the beach .

  This is where I posted my notes from that assembly that I went to earlier in the year to please my husband. I figured I was either gonna sit there and try to stab my eyes out with a teaspoon, or pretend to pay attention, so took notes to show you all how wacked they are. Puke.

  Embarrassed myself by following WT dating advice

  i was a good little dubby.

  i tried to keep up with studying, only had jw friends, and always followed what the wt pubs said about how to date.

  if there was a brother that i was interested in, i'd ask if it would be okay to get to know him better.

  Hah! No one asked me if they could get to know me better, no matter how much my mother threw them at me. Probably coz I avoided guys like the plague and made an effort not to talk to them.

  Like Dinah I wasn't a very good dub anyway so when I started dating (at like 16, which I guess isn't too bad) it was the dodgy ones who were doing the 'double life' thing lol. My husband wasn't too bad but certainly doesn't follow things to the letter. He does what he wants.

  How far would you go to protect your fade?

  trying to fade inevitably involves some compromises.

  still, i wonder how far i would be willing to go in order to leave on my own terms and not be disfellowshipped or pushed to disassociate.. at what point would you just give up and let them disfellowship you or send in a letter of disassociation?.

  what would you do if someone found your copy of of crisis of conscience?.

  I'd probably tell them to go shove as it's none of their business. Although I have been honest with my family as they are important to me and I thought they deserved to know. I just told them it was my choice and it wasn't made lightly, and I'm happy with it so I'm not going to argue with them.

  If I got called to a jc I wouldn't go. I don't owe them anything. If I get df'd so be it. The people that matter know what's going on.

  I miss the company of like minded people. It really does suck living with someone who's still in and who I can't talk about anything with, even my family issues.

  My husband definately. My dad hopefully but I can't see that coming. My mum and siblings can take their self righteous attitudes and stay there. It seems to make them happy, being all fanatic and self righteous and spiteful.

  Haha cantleave your brother sounds just like one of mine. Got 3 kids, home schooled, no social interaction with even other jws, always moving around to lonely country towns/pacific islands, told that the rest of the jw family are bad and not even allowed to see their cousins. They are like little anorexic jw robots (they don't get fed properly either as he has some weird ideas about food). He can never quite make elder though, no matter how hard he wants it lol.

  Long story short, things have been interesting.

  I'm successfully in the faded stage now. Got a bit of hounding - had a few elders calling and texting my husband about me (he's still in, kinda). Had an 'unexpected drop in' at our place too, which I didn't even know about until after as my hubby kept them outside. Got calls, txts and emails from a pioneer during the CO visit week. And got call and txt from an MS wanting to shout me lunch. Creep. I haven't replied to anyone. Haven't heard anything for a week or too now so hoping it will continue to stay that way!

  My husband is staying in, for whatever reason. He didn't say. He has started missing some meetings and only going to half of others. He doesn't like going alone and doesn't like being asked about me. So slowly he is going less and less, which is good. He doesn't want to hear anything from me about religion, but I'm hoping he's trying to find stuff out himself.

  I told my father about my thoughts (he's an elder), he admitted he had doubts and issues too, but seems to be clinging on for dear life to any shred of hope he can, even if it is a fantasy. He mentioned something to my mum too, who said something to my sister, and the usual chinese whispers way they thought I was joining another religion/committing sins/secretly sinning etc rather than just leaving for a normal life. So I explained a bit to my sister too. Then I got hit with the big long emotionally manuipulative preaching letters/emails from them. The whole 'here are all the scriptures proving we are right' and then the 'but we don't want you to die we want you to be forever with us and have forever in your heart'. Puke. I just told them that I loved them and wanted to keep in contact but won't argue and as such will not respond to preaching and emotionally manipulative correspondence. I have heard NADA since then lol.

  I also discovered my sister and my mother were spreading wacko untrue rumours about a df'd friend of mine, and then my sister started accusing me of misleading them about something that I didn't actually say but she tells everyone I did. So I think the less contact with them the better!! Bunch of hypocritical liars!

  Anyhoo, I hope to be on here more often now that my work seems to have unblocked this site.

  Baptism

  so i was thinking about baptism today, and something that was said in my jc meeting a few months ago.

  i was baptized at the ripe old age of 10. yes that's right, 10. that should be illegal.

  what kind of 10 year old knows what they want to do for the rest of their life?

I think there should be a limit on when one can get baptized. There is a reason you're not considered an adult until you're 18. It's because you're not an adult! And even at 18, who in their right mind really knows what they want to do."

  Exactly! I was baptised at 14 and really, I was pretty young and naive. It was what was expected of me so I did it. I've seen 9 yr olds getting baptised. It's pretty scary.

  Calling all Australians

  i'd like to know who you all are on the board.. you dont have to identify yourself personaly as i understand some need to be ingocnito.

  i am also curious to see if any of my old childhood and adult life friends have made it onto here.. me: lived in ballarat 70s, naracoorte in the 80s, adelaide in the 90s.

  traveled to york w.a as a teen and to alice springs and brisbane early twenties.. of course, if you need to be silent, thats fine too!

  I spent mid 80's to 91 in Tasmania, 91 - 00 in NSW - few hours north of Sydney, 00 - 06 in south east Qld, and 06-09 in the lovely nation's capital.

  Faded out this year. Haven't been to a meeting since late July/early August.
